Delusions of Grandeur Pt. 1...

Are you being honest with yourself?  This man is not!

When it comes to training, physique sculpting, and diet, some people seem to have an affinity for not being honest with themselves.  Some are even living a total facade.
Delusion is the EXACT word that fits the bill.  The conversations I hear about people's view of themselves in their current state of fitness is laughable.  It sounds like the athlete who gets caught on the juice and then says "I don't know how it got in my body."  Ridiculous!  However I do want to introduce you to something that cannot lie to you.  Something that will show you the exact truth of how you look with only one glance.  Something that will give you clarity on your situation and give you peace.  What is this magical item devoid of the ability to tell you lies of great grandeur?

I want to address some of the issues I have with these delusions.  The great Micheal Jackson had a song called "Man in the Mirror."  The song is a true testament of what I am laying down right now.  When you look in the MIRROR you will always get an honest answer about how you look.  The MIRROR has no friends and has no emotions.  It does not care about how you will feel when it reveals the truth.  It does not care what you think.  If you are fat and out of shape, you will look fat and out of shape.  No angle or lighting can save you.  Accept the truth of your situation and take steps toward change.  Step 1 would be to begin to eat properly and healthily.  Step 2 would be to start training hard and make it a habit to do it consistently.  Do not paint a picture in your brain where everything is rosy.  Accept reality and change.

We can look at sleep too.  Sleep is the most misunderstood aspect of the whole game.  We are sleeping so LITTLE in 2012 and that is bad news for your mind and body.  I mean if you haven't slept, you will look ragged and run down with heavy bags under your eyes.  These bags are so heavy could be used for Floyd Mayweather's training!  Your workouts will also suffer as the body needs rest in order to recharge.  Go to bed earlier and stop staying up late eating sugar!

Hey kitty you have A LOT of work to do before you are king...

Finally, if you are fit and look athletic, you will look lean and muscular in the mirror.  Keep doing what you are doing and if it behooves you, try to EXCEED your current status through harder workouts, cleaner dieting, or even changing your goals and trying something new.  Nothing stimulates the body like a new challenge.  If you are a bodybuilder, maybe try powerlifting.  If you typically do BORING, BLAND cardio on a hamster wheel, then go outside and SPRINT some hills.

When you want honesty about your physique, look in the mirror.  Do not spend your life trying to look like someone else.  (I cannot look like say, Arnold as I do not have his genetics)  Do not spend all your time trying reach some unattainable physique goal.  Maximize YOUR genetic code through proper training and diet, not plastic surgeons, diet pills, mindless eating plans, or steroids.  And of course, do not spend your time doing NOTHING as that plan leads to oblivion.  When you want unforgiving honesty about the fitness game, listen to me.  And if you are honest with yourself and your situation (90% are not) you can change.

  2. Thanks Mel! Delusional mindsets will make your goals unreachable! Unfortunately it is the norm. But as I said, everyone can change and prosper.
